The University of Sydney’s Equity Support Services, located within Student Administration and Support Services, brings together a number of support services that assist to students to meet their academic and personal goals.
Disability Services works with other departments to ensure that appropriate arrangements relating to teaching and assessment are made for students with disabilities, whilst maintaining the academic integrity and core requires of the individual courses. The unit is currently seeking a proactive and dynamic Disability Services Officer to assist with the provision of services to students with disabilities.
With a strong focus in service quality, this fast-paced and dynamic role will see you advising prospective students about University policy and facilities, interviewing current students with disabilities about their support needs and liaising with students and staff to facilitate reasonable adjustments as well as maintaining working relationships with relevant external organisations.
As a confident communicator with exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, you will have a proven ability to provide high-quality services to a diverse client group, and understand the needs of tertiary students with a disability. Equally important will be your excellent organisational and administrative skills, ability to exercise good judgement and initiative, capacity to meet tight deadlines and manage a busy workload.
To succeed, you will be degree-qualified and/or have extensive relevant experience in a similar role. Competent computing and database management skills will be essential, knowledge of the legislation and assistive technology, as will a commitment to Equal Opportunity and Privacy principles. Experience in a human-service or administrative environment will be paramount.

The position is full-time continuing, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.
Remuneration package: ,431 - ,807 p.a. (which includes a base salary Level 6 ,825 - $ 62,368 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).
Appointment to this position is subject to the provisions of the NSW Child protection legislation. Relevant criminal history, apprehended violence orders and prior employment checks, including relevant disciplinary proceedings, will be conducted on the preferred applicant.
